From 17 to 19 September 2025, a delegation from Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) visited Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) to conduct the 8th BNBU Institutional Review. The review aimed to comprehensively evaluate the university’s progress in teaching, research, administration, and quality assurance, while further advancing its sustainable development.

Over the three-day visit, the review panel held meetings with BNBU’s management team, engaging in in-depth discussions on the university’s mission, strategic planning, organisational structure, resource allocation, student development, and strategic collaboration with HKBU. The panel also met with faculty and staff from different units to examine curriculum design, teaching quality, student learning support, and internationalisation development.
In addition, the panel engaged with faculty representatives, current students, alumni, advisory committee members, industry professionals, and academic support units to gain a comprehensive understanding of BNBU’s achievements in teaching, research, student development, and community service.

During the review, the delegation toured the campus and visited facilities including the Learning Resource Centre, Sports Complex, Arts Hill, and the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Interdisciplinary Research and Application for Data Science.

The review panel was chaired by HKBU Vice-President (Teaching and Learning) Dr Albert Chau, and comprised Vice-President (Research and Development) Prof Lyu Aiping, Academic Registrar Ms Sally Ching, Executive Associate Dean of the Graduate School at HKBU Prof Cheung King-ho; Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) of the Faculty of Science at HKBU Prof Jade Shi, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) of the School of Communication at HKBU Prof Kara Chan, as well as international members Prof Deborah Cai from Temple University and Prof Brian Gareau from Boston College.
The institutional review evaluates the BNBU's performance in teaching quality, student development, research innovation, and community service, and represents an important process in strengthening the collaboration between HKBU and BNBU. The outcomes of this review will further support BNBU in optimising its governance, enhancing teaching and research, and advancing the quality of its internationalised education.
