On 12 March 2026, Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) signed a cooperation agreement with Laniakea Supercomputing Company (Hong Kong) and Zhuhai Shuzhou Technology to jointly launch a research project on “black swan” events.
The collaboration will focus on the modelling, prediction and application of low-probability, high-impact events, aiming to advance interdisciplinary research and practical solutions in this field.
The signing ceremony and symposium were attended by BNBU President Chen Zhi; BNBU Vice President (Research and Development) Pan Jianxin; Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of BNBU’s Institute for Advanced Study Tang Tao; Chief Executive Officer of Laniakea Su Ruoyu; and Chief Technology Officer of Shuzhou Technology Chen Wang.

Through this partnership, the three parties will leverage their respective strengths in scientific research, high-performance computing and technological innovation to explore new approaches to understanding and managing complex uncertainties in areas such as economics and society.
The initiative marks a further step in BNBU’s efforts to promote cutting-edge research and cross-sector collaboration.
