Beijing Normal-Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) has achieved a new milestone in its research development. According to the latest data released by Clarivate, the University has entered the global top 1% of the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) in the field of Engineering for the first time. The advancement of BNBU in the field reflects the combined efforts of multiple programmes at the University, including Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Computer Science and Technology.

Based on data from the Web of Science Core Collection, ESI evaluates research performance across 22 research fields and is widely regarded as a key benchmark for measuring the academic strength and global impact of universities and research institutions.
It is the second time BNBU has been named to the ESI global top 1%, following its earlier success in the field of Agricultural Sciences. BNBU's Food Science and Technology Programme has long maintained its globally recognised role in the field, and in 2025, it was listed in the ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects for the first time.
